Operation Mend Takes Their Veteran’s Day Walk Virtual

UCLA Health’s Operation Mend has been pioneering the recovery process for active military and veterans alike.  Their comprehensive approach is one of the most unique and elite systems to take care of our country’s warriors.

Operation Mend uses a combination of therapies, that are each specifically chosen and designed to meet the individual patient’s needs.  The treatment is customized and specialized – even the physicians are hand-picked to be the best in their respective fields in order to provide these warriors with the very best care available.  Using ground-breaking, evidence-based techniques & teams of highly trained medical professionals, the program provides world-class treatment at no cost to the veteran.

With their integrative approach, treatments can range from reconstructive surgery to holistic practices like art, dance, yoga and meditation, just to name a few.  Operation Mend is attempting to correct the biggest gap in care for PTSD by treating the psychological state of patients as an injury of war.  By giving the same amount of care and attention to the mental and emotional health as is given to physical injuries, Operation Mend has been able to make great strides in their ability to help veterans heal.

Every year for the past 10 years, Operation Mend has marched up 5th Avenue in New York City’s Veteran Day Parade.  This event was a great celebration of our country’s veterans and families, and a way to spread awareness about how Operation Mend improves and even saves lives.

This year, due to COVID-19, there will not be a parade.  So Operation Mend is taking their efforts online and asking for supporters to “virtually” walk with them on November 11th from 4pm to 4:45pm PST.  You can register for this event here.  If you can’t attend, you can still be involved by donating or volunteering, which will help celebrate our nation’s heroes and raise awareness of this organization’s treatment programs for PTSD and TBI.

As a veteran-owned business, H-Wave is a proud supporter of Operation Mend.  The H-Wave is a unique evidence-based therapeutic electrical stimulation device intended to speed recovery, restore function, and manage pain.  We are dedicated to helping veterans and federal supply schedule customers live a better quality of life with more function and less pain.  So our goals of veteran treatment align with Operation Mend’s goals to help wounded warriors recover and thrive.

Operation Mend provides advanced surgical and medical treatment for post-9/11-era warriors injured during combat operations or while training for service, as well as comprehensive psychological healthcare and social support for both wounded warriors and their family members.
