Update For Physicians Treating Injured Workers in California

DWC launches a new online education course that’s free

Yesterday the Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) launched an updated free online module to help educate medical doctors, chiropractors, nurses who treat patients in the California workers’ compensation system.  Although it was developed for treating physicians, it’s also available to basically anyone else who wants to learn about California’s Medical Utilization Schedule.

The specific course title is “Caring for California’s Injured Workers: Using California’s Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS) 2019” and is part of a series developed for physicians, clinicians and nurses.  The previous course they released was a complimentary module for Qualified Medical Evaluators.

It incorporates evidence-based treatment guidelines from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM).  Medical doctors, chiropractors and nurses are able to receive 1.5 hours of free CME credit for taking the course, and non-clinicians can receive a certificate of completion.
